Indoor Championship Shoot

Hi folks,

Now spring coming along, the indoor season is coming to an end.

We are intending to do an indoor championship shoot. This is ideal for our newcomers to rub shoulders with our established members and get used to shooting competitively.

Malcolm has kindly offered to organise this.

Due to membership numbers we will have qualifying shoots, that being a FITA 18 Triple (Juniors and Longbows-single face).

You will need to shoot this on one of the sessions next week – (1st to 6th April). Please designate this as the champs round before starting and mark it ‘champs qualifier’ on your submitted score sheet.

Score sheets will be collected on Monday 7th April.
The head to head final will then be shot on Friday 11th April.
Those spectators or luck enough to be shooting, bring food.

PS I like cake, any cake.

New members, if your uncertain what a FITA 18 triple round is, ask one of our established members.

Established members……find out what a FITA 18 round is quick J

Kind regards,
Ian.

Winter League Round 10

BrixhamArchWintLeag10-page-001

Here are the latest results for the indoor winter league. Quite a few people did not shoot the last round. We had also extended the previous round for the same reason. I guess people are tiring of league and want to shoot outside but please persevere as it is unfair on other competitors who do want to see the competition through to the end.

There are two more rounds to shoot. The newly posted round 10 which needs to be shot by 9th April and then the final round 11 which is to be shot by 23rd April. If you wish to shoot either of these rounds outside please do so but bear in mind it must be a full Portsmouth round and you will need to ensure you have the correct target face. If you do shoot outside please email me your score and who witnessed it.

We propose the finals will be shot outside. The second and third places in each league will shoot a six way head to head with the top three progressing to a six way final against the winners of the three leagues (please shoot the remaining rounds even if you have no chance of reaching the last stages).

We would like to shoot the semi and finals as a live head to head without the need to convert scores whilst the competition is in progress. Therefore we have two ideas. Please can you let us have your choice by email. If no one responds or it is a tie we will decide!

First option is an outdoor Portsmouth. Compound archers would have three arrows, gents recurve/ladies compound four arrows, ladies and juniors five, longbow archers would have six. Competitors would then select their best three arrows each end.

Second choice is to shoot an outdoor round applicable to the bow style as follows:

Recurve – FITA 70m – 122cm face

Compound – FITA 50m – 80cm compound face 5-10 zone scoring

Longbow – FITA 50m – 122 cm face

Perhaps the second option would work better for the summer competition below?

Chris and myself propose to organise a summer competition. We hope this will be categorised into different bow styles and if numbers allow maybe graded on ability a little. One problem with the winter league has been competitors not being able to shoot for whatever reason. With the summer competition we hope to alleviate this by not shooting against an individual but against all your leagues scores for that round. The top scorer for each round would get 10 points, the second 9 points etc. If competitors don’t shoot there then no points are awarded.

We would be interested to hear any other comments on the winter league and suggestions so we can make any improvements.

Please can you also email me if you are interested in the summer competition and which bow style you would shoot.

Happy shooting

Rob and Chris

Bow international FITA 70m Postal

Bow International magazine are running a summer postal competition. The format is based on the Fita 70m round. I have pre-registered for this competition and would be grateful if you could tell all club members that they are eligible to shoot. We will need both individuals and hopefully at least one team (individuals can also participate as a team). Any club member who wishes to register should speak to a member of the competitions team. Further information is available on th Bow International web site.

The competition runs through to September 30th.
